Basic Knowledge on Fertilizer
1 Features of ammonium bicarbonate
It is unstable white crystal, which easily absorbs moisture and decomposes. It is volatile and has strong ammonia smell; It decomposes faster as humidity and temperature go higher; It dissolves easily in water with alkaline reaction.
2 How to use ammonium bicarbonate?
Ammonium bicarbonate is easily volatile in high temperature and high humidity. On either dry land or paddy field, deep placement is better than top application and heavy dressing as base fertilizer is superior to that as additional fertilizer. When applied deeply as base fertilizer, ammonium bicarbonate can contact soil closer, in which way, it is isolated from air and the ammonium ion is preserved due to adsorption by soil colloid, thus reducing the loss of nitrogen, boosting the fertilizer efficiency, as well as helping with the root absorption and crop growth, and increasing yield.
3 Features of urea
It is hygroscopic. It is neutral fertilizer and ling application attaches no influence on soil. Urea’s transformation in soil has something to do with soil acidity, humidity and temperature.
4 How to apply urea
Urea is applicable to be used as base fertilizer and additional fertilizer rather than seed fertilizer. Urea can give full play as foliage dressing, and is applicable to variety of soils and plants.
5 Why is urea true of foliage dressing?
It contains high nutrient with low harmful ingredients. Its neutral aqueous solution does not harm fallen leaves. It dissolves easily in water and is hygroscopic, that’s why it is often moist; with small molecular volume and large diffusivity, it is readily to penetrate into leaf cells for direct absorption. What’s more, absorption proceeds fast with high absorptivity, and leaf green particle can be seen soon 20 minutes after spraying. Therefore, apart from being used as base fertilizer and additional fertilizer, it has better effect to service as foliage dressing than other ammonia fertilizer
